Elaine Hobden

Elaine Hobden is a multimedia textile artist mostly specialising in hand embroidery.

She has always enjoyed art and stitching from an early age, dabbling in all kinds of art during her working life. She completed a City & Guilds Hand Embroidery course to stage 3 in 2020 where she discovered her true passion in embroidery.

Elaine’s work is mainly inspired by her love of nature in its many forms. She is has a particular interest in birds and the lives and survival of these incredible animals. She researches in depth to give her the knowledge needed to put them into her work. She mimics the patterns, the textures and the colours following the form, softness or strength all the time feeling the bird’s personality as it takes shape. Each piece is a complete work of art and intends to follow the bird’s natural habitat by placing them on their natural perching place.

Elaine’s other works includes flowers and fauna which she likes to create to take on the real life textures and depth that make them very tactile and touchable. This can take the form of likeness or abstract.
