2026

June – originally agreed to meet at Lee on Solent for a sketching session on the beach but due to the heat wave we rearranged to meet at Botley Grange. Still too hot to sit outside but a very enjoyable meeting comparing what we had been doing in the last few weeks. We manged to take a walk round the grounds and take some photos which may inspire some of us for future work.

March saw us all off to the Treasury in Winchester, a most interesting museum which provided us with so many items to sketch and draw ideas from.

February – our first sketching day of the year. It was a dull cold day, which very soon got rained off! So we adjourned to Anne’s house for coffee and cake and a lots of chat.

2025

With preparing for two exhibitions this year most sketching and research work was done individually this year.

2024

A couple of our sketching days:
We visited Winchester in July this year, turned out to be a very hot day!

Then in October we all met up at Bucklers Hard. Lots of views across the Beaulieu River for us to sketch, as well as the looking round the shipwright’s cottage and St Mary’s Chapel.

2023

Two sketching days this year:
Firstly we revisited Lepe Beach in the summer and undertook some very interesting texture and colour observation exercises.
Then this autumn we had a visit to the Southampton Art Gallery where we made sketches in response to the artwork that each of us found most inspiring.

Also this year we were part of the Hampshire Open Studios, exhibiting at Emsworth Museum.

2022

Another sketching day this time at Lepe Beach.

2021

Despite being busy working towards our Autumn exhibition ‘Expressions’, we did manage to organise a few ‘plein air’ sketching days at Hythe, Beaulieu, Lymington Key and Keyhaven.

2020

We only had the chance of three regular meetings at the beginning of 2020 before we found ourselves in the Covid-19 pandemic. Like so many other textile artists, we were unable to hold our regular monthly get togethers and so we resorted to zoom meetings.

However with some restrictions lifted during the summer we managed to have some ‘plein air’ sketching days.
